Welcome to Okemos Kids Club (OKC)! The Okemos Kids Club was created in 1983 to meet a community need that was identified by parents and school personnel. It was developed and sponsored by Okemos Community Education in cooperation with school personnel. All Current preschool programs include: Nest (Infants); Coop (toddler one's/two's); Den (toddler two's/three's); and Lair (preschool three's/four's). Preschool programs use the Creative Curriculum. PROGRAM OBJECTIVES To serve as a support system for families within the Okemos School District. To provide a safe and nurturing environment. To plan activities that meet the developmental needs of the whole child - social, cultural, emotional, physical, cognitive, and affective. To recognize and respect the uniqueness of each child. To maintain ongoing communication between OKC staff and parents. To provide quality child care at a reasonable cost at a convenient location. Hours of Operation Edgewood Early Childhood Center is open from 7:15am to 6:00pm.

Current School-Age Kids Club programs include: Elementary Before/After school care at Cornell, Bennett Woods, Okemos Public Montessori, and Hiawatha; Club Kinawa Before/After held at Kinawa for grades 5th-8th (7th & 8th Grade students walk from Chippewa to Kinawa independently); Break Days, Snow Days, and Summer Camp for children who have finished Kindergarten-7th grade held at Edgewood Early Childhood Center. OKC - School Year Okemos Kids Club provides before care at each school from 7:00 am until school starts and after care from the end of the school day until 6:00 pm for children in Kindergarten through 8th grade. Non-School Days (Break Days) are held at Edgewood Early Childhood Center with operating hours from 7:15am to 6:00pm. A $55.00 Fee is due at the time of Registration Per Child Break Days & Half Day Registration Coming Soon!

Okemos Public Montessori School continues the tradition of individualized learning that encompasses all aspects of the child: social, emotional, physical, and academic. In keeping with Okemos Public Schools commitment to education, the PPK (pre-preliminary kindergarten) meets each child at his or her developmental level. Through patient observation and respectful interaction, the inner child is revealed to the teacher. The classroom is uniquely designed to provide opportunities for children to build independence, concentration, and self-awareness. Maria Montessori once stated "free choice is one of the highest of all the mental processes." This is particularly true in a Montessori classroom. This freedom is developed through thoughtful, sensible, and sensitive interaction. PPK students learn alongside the kindergarteners until 12:00. Then Enrichment takes over until 3:50 pm. Together with student's parents, our mission is to provide each child with the opportunities needed to become a creative, intelligent, and respectful addition to our community. Okemos Public Montessori's program is aligned with the American Montessori Society philosophy.

The Great Start Readiness Program (GSRP) is Michigan’s free PreK program for eligible four-year-olds. Ranked #1 in the U.S., it’s a safe place where children learn how to get along with others, share, take turns, and make friends. Math, reading, and thinking skills are taught every day through fun, hands-on activities. GSRP will help make sure your child is ready for kindergarten and beyond. The Okemos Edgewood GSRP program is grant funded through the Ingham ISD. We offer Monday-Thursday (4 day) programs and Monday-Friday (5 day) programs. Edgewood also offers tuition based before and after care.
