Actors' WorkshopDramaActors’ Workshop is an acting class which focuses on the performance of a "scene" or a segment of a play by the students. In Actors' Workshop we will explore the fundamentals of acting, including character development, voice projection, and stage presence. Students will work on scenes from plays, practicing techniques for delivering lines with emotion, timing, and clarity. Through group exercises and individual rehearsals, students will build confidence in their acting skills and learn how to collaborate with others on stage. By the end of the class, students will be ready to perform a short scene or monologue, showcasing their growth as young actors.School Year 25-26

Bennett WoodsOkemos Kids Club - School Age (K-8th Grade)Welcome to Okemos Kids Club (OKC)! The Okemos Kids Club was created in 1983 to meet a community need that was identified by parents and school personnel. It was developed and is sponsored by Okemos Community Education in cooperation with school personnel. Current School-Age Kids Club programs include: Elementary Before/After school care at Cornell, Bennett Woods, Okemos Public Montessori, and Hiawatha; Club Kinawa Before/After held at Kinawa for grades 5th-8th (7th & 8th Grade students walk from Chippewa to Kinawa independently); Break Days, Snow Days, and Summer Camp for children who have finished Kindergarten-7th grade held at Edgewood Early Childhood Center. PROGRAM OBJECTIVES To serve as a support system for families within the Okemos School District. To provide a safe and nurturing environment. To plan activities that meet the developmental needs of the whole child - social, cultural, emotional, physical, cognitive, and affective. To recognize and respect the uniqueness of each child. To maintain ongoing communication between OKC staff and parents. To provide quality child care at a reasonable cost at a convenient location. OKC - School Year Okemos Kids Club provides before care at each school from 7:00 am until school starts and after care from the end of the school day until 6:00 pm for children in Kindergarten through 8th grade. Edgewood Universal Pre-KOkemos Universal Pre-KThe Great Start Readiness Program (GSRP) is Michigan’s free PreK program for eligible four-year-olds. Ranked #1 in the U.S., it’s a safe place where children learn how to get along with others, share, take turns, and make friends. Math, reading, and thinking skills are taught every day through fun, hands-on activities. GSRP will help make sure your child is ready for kindergarten and beyond. The Okemos Edgewood GSRP program is grant funded through the Ingham ISD. We offer Monday-Thursday (4 day) programs and Monday-Friday (5 day) programs. NewKinawa Musical Theater WorkshopMusicMrs. Bellamy is excited to offer a Musical Theater workshop at Kinawa this fall. Throughout the workshop we will focus on some elements of singing, dancing, staging, and acting in musical theater. This workshop meets for 5 weeks from the middle of November through the middle of December. The goal of this workshop is to engage students in the joy and storytelling of musical theater with an emphasis on singing. It is meant to be an introduction to each of the topics.
